Repairs

We have been repairing speakers for close to 30 years in California, now we offer the same service in Southern Oregon. With lower costs to do business we can do repairs to speakers at very competitive prices.

We offer repairs on most speakers including antique, guitar, home, pro, and public address speakers. Repairs are divided into two areas RE-FOAMING and RE-CONING.  Re-foaming involves replacing the  foam on a speaker when it no longer supports the cone properly. When a speaker needs re-foaming we check the spider and voice coil to make sure the speaker works properly  when  it  is  returned.  If  the  speaker needs extensive work in addition to the new foam it is sometimes necessary to re-cone the  speaker, or we may suggest a replacement.  When replacing a speaker in a system it is important that a  speaker with the same parameters be installed in addition to the same physical size. Speaker systems which have foam to support the cone are usually home systems as apposed to PA or PRO systems or  guitar systems which usually use accordion shaped cloth.

Re-foaming usually involves less labor and parts than re-coning so it costs less. Often this is all a speaker needs to return it to original condition. Because we are located in Oregon our charges are lower  than most other areas of the USA.  Instead of driving all over town to locate a repair shop it is often much less expensive to box the speakers up and ship them to us. When removing the speakers [woofers, midrange or tweeters] from your system make certain to mark the wires so you can replace them correctly when you reinstall the speakers you removed to be repaired.  As an example on costs if you are re-foaming a 12''  woofer on a home system such as a Cerwin Vega the cost in many large cities would be $50.00/$60.00 each if you remove them from the cabinet and drive to a repair shop. Often many miles of frustration plus cost of gas and car wear.  Instead box them up and drive to your local Post Office...pay the shipping/insurance charge of $10.00 or less and let us do the work of repairing them....you go home and enjoy yourself. Your speakers will be returned in a short time...working perfectly...you reinstall them and enjoy. Our total cost for these 2 speakers is often $60.00 or less including shipping and insurance....half the cost of local repair. Do this with confidence...we have been doing repairs for satisfied customers in various parts of US for years.

Re-coning involves more parts and more labor so the cost is higher...but you get more.

In addition to offering RE-FOAMING we offer RE-FOAMING KITS.  For a small amount of  work and a LARGE saving on shipping you can re-foam your speakers in your home and save more...you save two ways....shipping...and labor.

As an addition, we are introducing new antique speakers for people who prefer a new product to an old one. These speakers will also be useful for people who have lost their old speaker or did not get one when they purchased the antique radio.

If you need an antique speaker and have no speaker for repair send us an email and tell us the model you are looking for plus information such as field coil resistance, if an output transformer is attached to the frame plus the outside diameter of the speaker such as  5'',6'',  6.5'',8''  10  or  12'' Most antique speakers have speakers with one of these sizes, but some have odd sizes such as 9'' or 4.6''. We will quote on a new antique speaker to replace the lost one.
